Hey There!
Hi! My name is Richard Whitesell and I am a designer specializing in interactive and motion graphics. My skills were initially forged in the Iron City of Pittsburgh. Like anyone who wants to do something big, I decided to make the move to NYC to pursue a long lasting career in design. I have worked with brands such as Dell, TNT, Johnson and Johnson, and BBC Worldwide. I am passionate, enthusiastic, ambitious, and always learning. I love what I do.

The Million program aims to offer short-term incentives and rewards to motivate students, increase classroom participation and contribute to their overall success in school. The Department of Education selected schools to be a part of a pilot program and partnered with Verizon Wireless to provide a free Samsung U740 to every student. For the first month, each student received start-up Million points, which then was redeemed for minutes and texts. After that, the student could earn additional Million points by excelling in classes and exhibiting good behavior.

In summer 2008, Dell went on a road trip to various music festivals all over the country including Lollapalooza, The Virgin Mobile Festival, and The Austin City Limits Music Festival. At each location Dell set up an experience where visitors were able to make mix-tapes, have stylists re-create iconic rock star "do's", get airbrush tattoos, and much more.
To announce the Dell "Summer Rocks" tour, we designed a mini-site where visitors can learn about contests, promotions, watch video diaries, see interviews with musicians, and make mix-tapes.
Teroforma is a unique digital store/web app where visitors can arrange place settings on a virtual table. Special attention was brought to each product which contained a story of its own. Users can learn where each item came from and who it was designed by.
A mini website for Dell's Red campaign. When you buy a Dell Red product, a portion of the purchase goes to the Global Fund to help the AIDS epidemic in Africa. For example, for each XPS ONE that's purchased, $80 is donated. That's one month's anti-retroviral treatment for one person.
Using GPS tracking tags and Google Earth, visitors can follow the migratory lives of some of the species featured in the film “Earth” by BBC Worldwide and Greenlight Media. Also features blogs from zoologists and environmentalists documenting their travels and observations.
